So I've been going under the assumption that we will get an infantry respec in 1.8 and I'm deciding what logi I want to go proto. I'm researching the strengths of each one and I think I've found the best stationary defense squad (or at least as stationary as you can get)
2 HMG sentinels
1 caldari logi
1 amarr logi
1 caldari/minmatar assault/commando (rail/combat rifle for range, SMG for short)
Obviously the sentinels are the tanks, and having 2 means you can cover 2 doorways. The HMGs tear up anything that tries getting close, while the long range assault/commando either picks off their long range or forces them to either hide or try to move up closer. The caldari logi keeps longevity with the proto hives that give ammo and repair, and the amarr logi lays down 2 uplinks with 30 spawns and 2sec timers. The repairing hives means the logis can go 4 plates without risk and will keep sents alive in the cases where 2 reps is just barely not enough. If the caldari logi actually lives long enough to go through all of the hive clusters they suicide and respawn to keep everything running smoothly (yes a waste but if your squad isn't dying it's better to have 1 suicide than to all die because of running out of ammo and potentially losing the point)
As long as the place being defended isn't especially susceptible to grenade spam that comp should be essentially unbreakable short of an orbital or their whole team rushing that spot. The core idea isn't anything new but the new suit bonuses will make it even stronger. 2 second spawn times are going to be ridiculous.
